Birth: 1881 Camden, NSW, Australia Death: 25 Oct 1918 (age 37) Randwick Military Hospital, Sydney, NSW, Australia Cemetery or Memorial: Rookwood Cemetery, Sydney, NSW, Australia Father: David GEARY ( - 1889) Mother: Bridget WOODS ( - 1883) Bruno was the youngest of the ten children born to David and Bridget Geary. He was fostered by Augustine/Austin and June Bugden after the death of his mother in1883. His occupation was Painter when he enlisted at Town Hall Sydney 30 December 1915 and served in the 18th Battalion A.I.F. At enlistment he gave his next of kin as Harry Boon of Norwood Street Burwood. William Henry Boon was the husband of his foster sister Hannah Maria Bugden. He lived with the Boons for many years. He left Sydney on the 'Nestor' on 9 April 1916 and arrived in France via England on 23 September 1916. Bruno's brothers James, Patrick and Edmond Geary also served. Edmond was killed in action at Gallipoli in 1915. Private Bruno (William) GEARY died in Randwick Military Hospital, Sydney of Uraemia, chronic Nefritis and bronchitis contracted while on overseas service on 25 October 1918 age 37. |
